ABOUT IT’S NOT STRAIGHT

In the vast canvas of existence, diversity reigns supreme. Just as we encounter an array of
shapes in nature, so too do we encounter a spectrum of human experiences, and human
identities.

Artists Jota Rosario, Kyla Yager, and Mirka Loiselle come together to present “It’s Not Straight”,
a colourful queer art show where every hue and every curve defies the constraints of a single
straight narrative. With three unique artistic voices existing along the spectrum between
illustrative and abstract art — created by three individuals with varying intersections of identity
within the LGBTQ+ community— the exhibit celebrates the kaleidoscopic richness of artistic,
gender, and sexual experience.

Featuring paintings from each artist’s body of work, as well as artwork created collaboratively
between the three creatives, the exhibit celebrates the fluidity of self expression, and invites us
to consider how personal identity can flow and shift within community.
